Pfeiffer symposium

The bestselling and inspirational book "Ordering Your Private World" by Gordon MacDonald will provide the foundation and focus for the Sept. 29 symposium hosted by Pfeiffer University's Emily Prudden Center for Women's Studies at the Stokes Student Center on Pfeiffer's Misenheimer campus.

Events run from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be led by Kathleen Kilbourne, the director of Pfeiffer's master of arts in christian education program, an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church and a resource leader for retreats and conferences nationwide.

"We have a wonderful series of workshops and dialogue sessions planned throughout the day, and Kathleen's talents and skills are really going to make this special," said Sylvia Hoffmire, director of the Prudden Center. "I sincerely believe that anyone attending the symposium, woman or man, will walk away having had a truly informative and thought-provoking experience."

An editorial review of MacDonald's book on Amazon.com includes the following remarks: "Never admitting to have it all together, but rather using his own personal struggle as a way for readers to relate to his principles, Gordon MacDonald's classic book invites readers to bring order to their personal life by inviting God's control over every segment of their lives. His premise is that if the private world of a person is in order, it will be because they are convinced that the inner world of the spiritual must govern the outer world of activity."

The event is open to the public and costs $15, including lunch. Register by Sept. 26 by calling Hoffmire at 704-463-1360, extension 2562, or emailing her at hoffmire@pfeiffer.edu.
