KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

The combination of my Professional Medical background with my studies in Social Counseling was, and is still an asset in developing a holistic approach towards achieving my career objective of Community Development through Community Health Care programs. My diverse background helped me in developing the ability to work with people from different cultural and economical backgrounds, and under different circumstances.


PROFEESIONAL EXPERIENCE AND ACHEIVMENTS:

1. Founder of the CARE WITH LOVE (CWL) program for training and employment of Home Health Care Providers in Egypt. It started in 1996 as a partnership between three organizations: an NGO (CEOSS), a private hospital (Asalam Hospital-Mohandessin), and the Center for Geriatric Services.
2. Founder of the CWL organization (registered under the Ministry of Social Affairs). CWL started to operate as a stand alone organization since January of 2004. CWL provides training and employment of Home Health Care Providers.
CWL provides home health care for all those in need of short or long term home health care. It also provides care for children with cancer from low income families at the National Cancer Institute in Cooperation with Friends of Children with Cancer.
3. Coordinated the Egyptian participation in the Global Videoconference to celebrate the International Year of the Older Persons (1999 – NGO Committee on Aging – UN)
4. Conducted the case study of the living conditions of older people in human settlements in Cairo, Egypt. Worldwide survey of the United Nations Center for Human Settlements (HABITAT) in cooperation with the Institute of Public Administration, NY 1999.
5. Practiced Medicine as a Radiologist in the USA and Egypt from: 1976-1992.
6. While practicing in Egypt as the Head of the Diagnostic Ultrasound Unit at Asalam Hospital in Cairo from:1983-1998) I was involved is establishing similar units in other hospitals with training of physicians, coordinating work schedules and organizing flow charts.
7. Research at the Naval American Medical Research Unit (NAMRU-3), Cairo, Egypt.

1. UNCH (1999) – Living Conditions of Low Income Older Persons in Human Settlements.

Awards:
1. Was selected as one of the first Ashoka Fellows in the Middle East. Ashoka acknowledges “Social Entrepreneurs” that created a program with a social impact that can be replicated, can become sustainable, and have a strong moral fiber.
2. Was acknowledged by the Ministry of Social Affair for my work with the older people.

activities in supplementing care for the children of low income families)

* Helping with income generation projects at the Southern village of Wadi El Natroun
* Volunteer community work with experience in Egypt, the West Bank(Israel),
Mexico and USA.
* Member of the YWCA (Started as a camper, then counselor then camp director till
I became the coordinator of the Summer Camps in Alexandria in 1974.
